Cheap and Easy Ways To Organize
By: Jen Shircel
If you’re a mom you’ve used many baby food jars or
containers, you’ve thrown out countless ice cream pails and
recycled plenty applesauce jars. Not anymore! Reuse them!
Baby food jars make great jewelry boxes for earrings that are
always lost, rings that are only worn with certain outfits or
all those barrettes for little girls hair.
Baby food jars are also great in the garage! They easily
organize nails, screws and bolts. They’re the perfect size, you
can see into them, they stack up on each other and they have a
cover in case they would fall. They are also perfect for the
home office to hold pens, paper clips, pins, tacks and rubber
bands.
Those plastic baby food containers make great tupperware! I
fill them up with little snacks and then toss them in my purse
to take along.
Applesauce jars work in the same sort of way, but for bigger
items. I decorated two of them with ribbons and stickers and
made banks for each of the boys. This way they always get a
glimpse of what’s inside without having to dump everything
out.
I’ve also used applesauce jars to store away extra pens,
pencils and other miscellaneous office supplies. But I have to
say that my favorite way to organize is to use ice cream pails.
Ice cream pails are perfect for all the kids crayons and
markers. They also have a cover and a handle, which makes then
easy to stack and carry.
Ice cream pails nicely hold all of your son’s matchbox cars
or your daughters Barbie clothes and accessories. They are also
great in the garage to keep together all the car cleaning
supplies or in the kitchen to organize rags, sponges and other
cleaning products. Ice cream pails are perfect for all my hand
held gardening tools and gloves. Plus, once they are decorated,
ice cream pails can make a very cute flower pot!
